Fun (and free!) ideas for a rainy day

Today was a rainy fall day. We had plans to participate in a walk/run event in Raleigh with some of our dear friends, but due to the weather, our plans were cancelled. The girls were really excited about the 'race' and I knew we would need a pretty special Plan B for our Saturday! wink! Here is what we did instead...
First stop- PetSmart! The girls squealed with delight when I told them we were going to go to the pet store. We got to look at fish, birds, cats, dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters... all kinds of fun animals! In the back of the store, you can even watch dogs getting groomed. Next stop- Target's Fall/ Halloween aisle! It was really fun to take the girls to look at all the decorations. They enjoyed pushing buttons, trying on costumes, and laughing- a lot! Our rainy day wasn't over yet! The girls also enjoyed coloring, taking dinosaurs into the bathtub, playing Pet Shops, watching a movie on the laptop (in their room- very fun!) and stomping in the puddles in our cul-de-sac. It was a great day!
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."- Matthew 5:14-16
