Joy to the world, the LORD is come.
Let earth receive her King.
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing.
What a wonderful day to celebrate and be reminded! There was a date in history that the Incarnate Son Jesus Christ was born into the world. Fully God and fully man, born humbly in a manger. We celebrate this event in history, but not only this event. We celebrate our Salvation in Jesus Christ. The birth of Jesus is prophesied throughout all of Scripture, even from the very beginning. Genesis 3:15, just after the fall of man, God says, "And I will put emnity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." God sent his Son to live, to die, and to unlock the curse of death from the inside of the grave. Jesus would destroy Satan by being our substitute.
Isaiah 11 gives prophecy to this One that will come:
A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse, from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him, the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord, and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.
Isaiah 11:1-2
When we recognize our need for a Savior, Christmas is a much sweeter time of year. When we understand that we have a need for a Redeemer and God provided that Redeemer in Jesus Christ, the perfect sacrifice. Jesus is the only One who could have paid the price for our sin that we may have life. When we accept this free gift by believeing through faith that God poured out his grace and mercy through his Son, we have a freedom and a joy that can not be taken away. John writes in John 3:17, "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
We pray that you have this JOY that comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ. Joy to the world, the Lord has come, when we prepare room in our hearts to receive this free gift and to be filled with truth that comes from the Bible, we can live life without fear. We know there is a greater hope and a promise that Jesus will return and those that are in Him will reign with Him forever. Joy to the world, the LORD has come!
Merry Christmas!
